Coverage, cell by cell

Coverage map

Every hexagon where a station received aircraft positions in the last 24 hours. The API can only return aircraft that a station hears, so empty areas are where a new receiver helps most, and where it earns you an API key.

Loading coverage… Heard by 1 station 2+ stations

Cells are H3 resolution 3 (~12,000 km²), drawn from the positions of aircraft the stations received, never from where the stations are. Coverage at cruising altitude reaches much further than near the ground.

Host a receiver

Live somewhere the map is empty? We send complete receiver kits to hosts in the biggest gaps. You give it a spot with a view of the sky, power and internet; it feeds the network, and you get a contributor API key and a station page.

Applications are ranked by how far the site is from current coverage. Click the map above to see how big the gap is where you are.

We keep only an approximate point (a ~28 km grid), never the exact spot you click, and your IP address for 90 days for abuse checks. Applications are deleted after 2 years unless you host a kit.
